Rest & Satisfaction - Marty Miranda

I recently overheard a daycare worker handing a child back to their parents. The baby was clearly having a hard day; she was crying and very upset. As they handed the baby to the dad, the worker said, "I don't know if she's hungry or just needs a nap, but here you go." It struck me how funny it would be if we asked each other the same question: "Hey, you're clearly having trouble today, are you just hungry or do you need a nap?"

As we wrap up this Spring season or close out the busy school year and head into the summer, we might also feel off balance, unsure of what exactly we need, or what our loved ones need, to refresh. Often what we need most is the simple but profound care that Jesus offers.

Wherever you find yourself as we head into summer, Jesus invites us to find what we need in Him. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This invitation is a reminder that, no matter our circumstances, true rest and satisfaction are found in Christ.

As you plan your summer, we invite you to consider how you will prioritize your relationship with Jesus to experience His rest and renewal. If you would like to join our Beaverton campus in reading and reflecting on Paul's Letters to the Church. You can download the PDF here.

We trust that this experience will be a source of refreshment and encouragement as you enjoy the rhythms of rest and growth this summer.

Warmly,

Marty Miranda
