Where Our Strength Comes From - Gabby Peacock

Recently, I’ve been studying the book of Ephesians. Chapter 6:10-13 has particularly stood out to me;

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty Power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.”

Wow! I know Paul was writing to the people of Ephesus thousands of years ago, but how applicable are his words still today? Let’s remind ourselves what makes up the full armor of God;

Belt of Truth
Plate of Righteousness
Shoes of Peace
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of Spirit

We are reminded in Ephesians that the devil is real, our strongholds are real and there is a spiritual war going on all around us. But how are we showing up to this battle? Are we coming empty handed, or ready for war? We already know who won, but it’s now our job, as followers of Jesus, to push back on darkness. We have light that lives inside us, Jesus died on the cross so that His power could dwell within us.

I want to challenge us all this week to pray like we've never prayed before. Speak truth over your life, your family’s life, and our neighborhood. When difficulty arises, imagine yourself physically putting on each and every piece of God's armor, that He has given us for our protection.

Thank you Lord for not just giving us a shield, but the entire armor of God, for your glory, we will stand firm in Your name.
