Let's Remember - Daniel Knutson

At the beginning of the year, I challenged us to begin praying for the next generation, for growing faith, for unity, for undeniable kingdom impact, and for our friends. 9 months into the year, and we have seen God move in mighty ways! And I think we can miss what He’s doing if we don’t pause and remember.

I just finished reading Deuteronomy and have now started reading Joshua. These books tell the story of the end of Israel’s wandering in the desert, and the beginning of the nation entering the land that God promised to the father of the nation, Abraham.

This moment was huge for Israel, as almost 500 years of delayed gratification was coming to a close. Not only had they been freed from slavery in Egypt, they were not entering the land they’d been waiting to enter. This surely would be a moment they would never forget! And yet, over and over again in Deuteronomy, God commands Israel not to forget Him. He tells them over and over again, “remember God who freed you from slavery.” And even in the first part of Joshua, God commands the people to build a monument to commemorate the work God did in stopping the Jordan river, that generations to come would remember God, and not forget what He did.

So before we finish the year, let’s remember. Let’s not forget what God is doing in our midst, right now! Just at Hope City, since January, we have seen:

These are just some of the things that have happened at Hope City in 2023. But God's not finished yet. He is still on the move. We should take the time to remember God, everyday. Remember the work He has done, is doing, and that He will do.

What stories would you add to how God has moved this year? What do you want to remember? Would you be willing to share them with us?
