Daniel Knutson - April 17, 2022

1 Corinthians 15: 13-14, 17-22 (NET)
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith… And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins… If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead… For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Inattentional blindness - The surprising failure to notice something surprisingly obvious because…

It’s bigger than our expectations

Our attention becomes too focused on something else.

Luke 24:1-6a (NET)
Now on the first day of the week, at early dawn, the women went to the tomb, taking the aromatic spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood beside them in dazzling attire. The women were terribly frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has been raised!

Mark 16:6-7 (NET)
But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been raised! He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples, even Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you.”

Where we see graves, God sees a garden

Matthew 27: 31 & 33 (NET)
After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him… They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).

John 19: 41-41 (NET)
At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

1 Corinthians 15: 20b-22 (NET)
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead… For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
