Mending the Soul (MTS) equips individuals in an informed and compassionate way who have been impacted by abuse and trauma from abuse. Since abuse comes in many forms such as verbal, emotional, psychological, sexual, spiritual, and is prevalent around the world and in every community, we want to offer a resource to our community.
God made humans in his own image; therefore, healing from abuse involves people helping each other. We are best nurtured and healed in relationship. Mending the Soul provides resources that are best utilized within small groups.
There are 2 types of groups each consisting of 6-8 people. Men’s groups and women’s groups meet individually and are facilitated by 2 trained MTS laypeople.
-Mending the Soul: Explore is a simpler version of mending the soul’s Trauma Care model using expressive art and meet for 6 - 8 weeks. ~ Please fill out this form to let us know you are interested in more information.
-Mending the Soul Groups use curriculum that consists of the book Mending the Soul by Stephen Tracy, who is a Seminary professor, and a workbook written by his wife, Celestia, who is a licensed professional counselor. These groups meet for a minimum of 12 weeks. ~ Hope City currently does not have this version of MTS to find a group please visit https://willamette.cc/care/recovery/mts or https://mendingthesoul.org/find-a-group.
“Mending the Soul helped me come face to face with past traumatic events I had buried deep inside, and a powerful thing happened. God showed me something I had long been denying: I was worthy of His love.” ---James, Mending the Soul participant
